Hagiographic Halloween 2011

This year for Halloween I made costumes for both me and Dan.
(To be fair, Dan made the cross on his chest.)
We were St. George and the Dragon!

Vegetable Pot Pie

This is the first time I've ever made crust from scratch, so I'm a little proud of it.

ghee

Let us always cook in
fat rolling bubbles of ghee,
put our faces down
close to the flame
and smell in sweet waves
our sustenance.

Let us not worry about
plump tumbling bellies
or over round arms
strangling drops of juice
out of pomegranate seeds
and açaí berries.

For now let us worry
about the energy we need,
and what we will do with it
when we smelt it
from what we desire inside the
marrow of our bones.
